I just threw my WD2500AAKX in my grandma's computer so I could out my stuff on it. But, I was wondering if it is possible to password protect the entire drive so that pretty much only I would be able to access it.. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I believe you need software to put a password lock on a drive. Or you could put a password on all of the folders within the drive.

Thats's uhm... stupid.

Not really. There's got to be some benefits to the more expensive versions. Plus, who's more likely to need to lock a drive? A home user or a professional/enterprise user.

Wish it did come on HP, but it does make sense.

You're funny. xD

Well, use a Windows 8.1 Pro system, lock it with Bitlocker, then plug it back in. It works. Trust me. I tried to unlock my flash drive when I forgot my key and left the recovery key in it. Massive fail.

Just off-line it, don't think your grand ma will be on-line-ing it, easiest solution on the planet or activate hot swap and just pull the SATA cable (after you off-line it). Don't go full retard when you can just raise the bar a bit to keep her out of it.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.
