Plausible. Haha yeah think I might drop it now getting bored.

You have an AMD processor, which are well known to lie about temparatures (especially idle). Their temparature sensor is not located within the core, but somewhere else. And it needs to heat up really nice to actually start showing real temps.

 

tl;dr

Your cpu was never 8c
