Hi guys i think

i have found the right section to post this in i'm a little lost into which one i should get a build i currently play BF4, wow, lol and many other games most are mantle supported or will be

so i'm a little stuck as to either go amd or intel.( going red and black looking build)

Budget : $1700

Location : brisbane Aust

My amd build looks like this:

Cpu: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core 4GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Black Edition

Mobo: ASRock 990FX-KILLER.990FX

Ram:Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) CMY16GX3M2A1600C9R

Gpu:Gigabyte GV-R929OC-4GD 4G GDDR5 1000MHz/5000MHz HDM/DP/2 x DVI-D (Plan on getting a second gpu in a month)

Power: Silverstone ST1000P 1000W

SSD:  coming from my old build

Total $1282

My Intel Build:

Cpu:Intel BX80646I54690 I5-4690,3.50GHZ,4CORES,6MB CACHE,LGA1150

Mobo:Asus MAXIMUS-VII-RANGER/4 x DDR3/2 x PCI-E 3.0/1 x PCI-E 2.0x16/3 x PCI-E 2.0/6 x SATA/DVI-D/D-

Ram:Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) CMY16GX3M2A1600C9R

Gpu:EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Hydro Copper 03G-P4-2789-KR PCIE Graphics Card

Power: Silverstone ST1000P 1000W

SSD: Same coming from my old rig

Total : $ 1631

The cooling will be all done by a custom Hard-line acrylic loop just need the block to fit the cpu and a Gpu water-block  for the Amd build these parts are not part of the budget as they are being purchased  for me

if someone could tell me what block i would need for that AMD gpu would be much appreciated If you can link it from PC case gear would be good

is that the i5 4690K in the Intel build?

both build don't need 16GB of RAM

drop to 8GB will do the trick

I will say the Intel Build will be nice but you don't need that huge PSU

700-800 watts is good enough

As @dragoon20005 says, drop down to 8GB RAM and get a 700-800W PSU. If you do video editing it'd make sense to go for 16GB. AM3/AM3+ is dead.

I have yet to see the GTX 780 Hydro Copper offered for sale.

I would suggest a better quality lower wattage psu. Something in the 850W range would be good. EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G2 Gold Power SupplySeasonic M12II 850W Power Supply, Seasonic X-850 80Plus Gold 850W, Corsair AX860 Platinum Power Supply.

The Ranger is a nice motherboard. If you stick with it you really should get Intel Core i5 4690K. If you stick with the i5-4690 then change the motherboard to something like ASUS H97-PRO Motherboard with R9 290 gpu.

hey everyone thanks for the feedback
if you all suggest to drop back 8 gigs then i'll be looking at going up to the I7 4790s as i don't plan to OC i just plan to make a silent build with overkill of grunt

I Don't need a case or cpu cooler put into the budget  as

1. i've build a case to mounth the hardwear in

2. if any of you read my first post it says i will be cooling it with a custom Hard-line acrylic loop

And will a 850w power supply power the set up that runs sli/ crossfire and a watercooling loop ??

hmm since you mentioned about water cooling

then really that 1000 watts PSU might be a good idea

850W should be enough for two-way SLI/CF and a custom loop.

well the calculated wattage shows 700 watts from the initial setup

add watercooling will be 50 -100 watts but that not including OC

OC 290 are known to go over 350-400 watts per card

so i really have to say 1k watts or more to be on the safe side

What build are you working off of?

was using this build

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/89TZ99

and using the PSU calculator with water cooling parts

around 700+ watts

and single 290 OC drew like over 300+ watts at load

if dual 290 OC so it will draw like 600-700 watts from the GPU alone

3. Intel with a 290.

and in saying all that i may be able to get a smaller power sup and use my old Corsair HX1050

and get a 750w to power my old I7 920 with dual GTX 660s fior the gf

@trik'Stari intel/780 or intel/290 ?

and @dragoon20005  i am thinking about it just have to find the right Waterblock for the 290 i want

you can see which gpu block fits with your GPU

http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/

EK blocks are generally made for a lot of cards unless it uses a custom PCB
