$5000 budget for school

The budget for this is $5000. Only requirment is 2 ssd with os on them in raid zero and two hard drives and raid one for safe storage. This is for enginering courses so keep this in mind. Willing to go over said budget if it means getting what I need to run enginering programs on said computer. Just need one monitor so please include that, windows 8.1, and the windows student programing like word and what not. Never built a computer before so this is why I am asking for ya'lls help. Also have no case for it either. Need ya'll to include that also.

Holy crapola... hopefully this isn't a troll.

Anyway, you could most likely easily get away with a 2k budget.

I would also like to say to others that are going to build a computer for him, maybe try slapping a minitx in it, due to constrained space in alot of places, you can also do a normal ATX for SLI and such.

I'd spend 1.5-2k on the tower itself with a single GPU setup and said drive configurations and some good money on a nice large monitor for dem CAD works. and maybe a nice mouse and keyboaord aswell. Other's are better at the actual selection of the parts but this is what i would do.

who cares...

I'm not trolling ya'll, I just don't know anything about building computers or parts for that mater. I have a decent mouse that works fine, and any keybored will do. Not really picky about it. Can type fast on pretty much anything. Used to pudlic school computers never having the same keybored to the one next to it. Just need a good computer for school. I know I could go cheeper on the price I'm willing to spend but just want the best that I can get for the money I have.

Mostly edit, some gaming but most of the time is either sleeping, in classes or college ROTC attivities so not very heavy gaming.

If you have to 3D render what your engineering, I'd recommend dual Xeons, 6 core, 12 threads. My friend in India does CPU based 3D rendering, he's running 24 threads.

Do ya'll think one graphic card can handle a 3d render program?

Well the major I'm going to do is a master in industrial engineering so I think from looking at the classes required i will have to be 3d rendering a lot

Instead of the gtx 760 go with a GTX 780ti or 2 780ti's in SLI and a corsair hx 850 power supply. For the motherboard Get an ASUS P9X79 LGA 2011 and an Intel Core i7 4930k with 16 Gb's or 32 gb's of memory depending on the programs you will be using

Will I need a specific cooling system for this and what would a good case be for something like this?

A cooler master haf 932 should be a good case and for the 780ti I would recommend the Gigabyte gtx 780ti since it is the Wind force edition which should make it run a little cooler

$5000 is a bit overkill. Maybe with $3000 you can get away with an excellent rig

I prefer a single GTX Titan Black for your rendering work over 2 SLI 770s, otherwise if you don't want to spend all 5000$ it's very good

So instead of two cards I should just use one? and I plan on raiding the ssd in raid 0 and the hard drives in raid 1 so wouldnt the red series be better for that or no?
