Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone here has an NZXT H440 and knows how the airflow is inside of it? I like the case because it looks nice and is silence optimized, but if it has bad airflow then I'll have to find something else because I live in an area that gets pretty hot in the summer.

It's good if you do not use the stock fans and use high grade fans that are better then the stock fans. The stock fans give ok airflow but not the best.

I was planning on buying some Noctua or BeQuiet! fans, or some other quiet fan that can also give good airflow. :)

Then you will get good airflow in the case :) The airflow is not that restricted as some would think, but I highly do not recommend the stock fans, they just do not push enough air for the limited amount of air that can flow through the case..

Good cooler and good fans will do the trick, it's not thaaat restricted, but is still more restricted than the average case.

The H440 has bad airflow but when you're watercooling you usually have overly good temps anyways so it's not a big deal. You can not watercool in that case just fine but I would go for another case if that were the case (huehuehue) even though I love the look of the H440.

If you are going to buy a lot of fans the corsair fans are good for the price. £16 for a dual pack (120mm as I'd put 120's in the H440) and the fans have voltage step down adapters so you can just run them at 7v from the fan splitter. The Corsair fans aren't the best by faaar but they look sexy, perform fairly well, very quiet at 7v and are cheap. Noctua fans are awesome don't get me wrong but the money you can save + the sexy looks are worse the like 10% worse performance in my opinion.

I don't plan to OC or use watercooling, just air cooling, does that make any difference? @fringie @HerEscutcheon @Zelx @ericlee30

Still fine.

Like others said get noctua's or be quiet or silverstone ap123 (proven quieter than nf-f12 in some cases)

Or see if there are any other cases you like

I'm not set on any one particular case, I just want it to be silent and I'v heard the H440 is very silent. I'll look around and see if there's anything else that's a bit better. :)

Around $120 CAD. If it's a nice case I don't mind going a little higher, I'm not going for flashy though. I'm mostly using this just for work/games

No not at all, Im doing a watercooled H440 at the moment for my wife and my daughters H440 is all air cooled. I took the stock fans out of my daughters H440 and replaced them all with Bitfenix spectre fans in the H440 and you can tell a huge difference from the stock fans to the bitfenix fans in the case. I could see a even bigger improvement going with the Noctua or BeQuiet! fans.

Ohh, you meant price range for the cooler. Yeah lower than $130, but I'll take a look at that.

I'm really glad to hear that actually. How quiet is the case with the fans?

The bitfenix fans are pretty quit even without sound dampening material in a case, with the H440 you can hear them but it is very subtle sounding  ( barely can hear them unless you are really just trying to hear them )

I honestly didn't like the case at all after awhile. Hard to do cable management. Pain to get the case on. Hard to fit the 780. Not enough airflow at all. Yeah, better fans will improve airflow but the case is so restricted. Get the 750D for about the same price. You get tons of room, front bays for a CD drive (windows installation future proofing?), and much better airflow.

I use be quiet fans on mine for intake, they're much better than the stock fans. In terms of airflow, I wouldn't worry too much about components overheating or anything. That being said, you're rig will definitely run hotter than if it were in a haf 912 for example.

Well you should be perfectly fine then even with stock fans at 3v or 7v.

CPU temps are easy to control when not overclocking. Your graphics card wont benefit from 'better' fans, the CFM is usually pretty good with stock fans on cases. They just aren't uber quiet so if 7v isn't quiet then put them on 3v. If you put them at 3v you'll have no problems as the case comes with 4 fans.

Buying fans in your case (all dem puns) is kind of pointless. You don't need better fans. You might need to buy some step down voltage adapters though.

I like my case,h440 so much. Here is my rig setup, maybe can give you some idea from it...cheers

That actually looks really freaking cool, but a bit restrictive. I'm leaning more towards the Corsair cases now, even if they aren't silence optimized. They seem to have better airflow which is perfect since I love somewhere that gets really hot in the summer.

A 750D with Cougar fans is really quiet. I still have my NZXT rad fans and one more AF140L as the exhaust. It is significantly quieter going with Cougar fans. Corsairs are the fashion statement in PC's. You will honestly rarely see the Cougar fans to give two shites about it.

I decided to go minimalistic and sleek and went Fractal Design Define R4. It had the best reviews from everyone including Linus and is on sale right now. I just need to place my order and hope everything arrives in perfect condition by friday. I wanna game this weekend :P
