This is my rig i built, it's not the first computer i built but it's sort of the first high-end one. This for me was sort of a test and a try out for me. It's a full AMD build and before this i have never used a AMD chip. So i wanted to see how AMD was so when i got enough money to build a new gaming PC i thought i would try AMD and save a little money as well. The theme to the PC is red & black to truly make it a AMD build. I do want to name it but i can't think of any names for it so thats a work in progress. I am do some custom touches to the case but not much. I'm painting it red to make it a little of my own so it don't look like all the cases out there. I have included a pic of the first half of the painting done and i'll update when it is fully complete with the paint work.

 Here are the specs:

Motherboard: Asus ROG Crosshair Formula Z

CPU: AMD Fx 8320 @ 4.3ghz (overclocked)

Memory: Corsair Vengence ddr3 8gb 1600mhz

Gaphics: Powercolor HD 7950 reference OC model

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

Hard Drives: OCZ Agility 3 120gb (OS) & WD Green 1tb (data)

PSU: Raidmax Rx-1200AE 80 plus Gold

and the house all these components live in is a Fractal Arc Midi R2

I would advise strongly to replace that raidmax power supply immediately. Those things are fireworks in your house. I would get a reliable 550W+ PSU. Unless you're planning to CrossFire, then 750W+ would be good.

As far as I am concerned there is 3 glaring issues with this build:

1) What happened to the H100i? That is definitely a stock cooler...

2) You have a Raidmax PSU. Raidmax is utter garbage. Change it out ASAP.

3) Your PSU is 1200 watt... Planning to do 4 way Crossfire anytime soon? If not you might want to change that out (this is in addition to number 2)...

(If you are wondering my PSU is there because I am upgrading to 3-way 880 SLI when they arrive and I couldn't be arsed to buy a new PSU then.)

Other than that: Nice build and may it serve you well :)

About your post...

Indeed, they are Andyson OEM units, they are much lower quality compared to similar priced PSUs on the same category. The cabling inside is quite ugly, with a lot of cuts, and while it uses japanese caps, it doesn't mean they are all good. The 12V on the unit, has many times exceeded the 12.6v according to several reviewers. Ripple is just enough to not hate on the unit, but as every PSU it will degrade with time.

Another fact is that it doesn't even meet the 80+ Gold certification, which is 90% efficiency at 50% load. http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/RAIDMAX%20TECHNOLOGIES_RX-1200AE_ECOS%201613.2_1200W_Report.pdf

Even if it's cheap, it's kinda garbage... It's really paying for leftovers from the story IMHO...

Oh well, maybe you have gotten one of the better units of their production line.

Nice build mate, could use a tidy up but I guess you are going to modify it soon so no point tucking wires and what not.

How does it run? Considering this is you're first high end build are you happy with the performance/price ratio?

Happy gaming :D
