Software to aid in overclocking?

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

OCCT is also another good stess tester. If you have later (post Ivy) Intel CPU, then don't use Prime95. It can destroy your CPU if you use adaptive mode with voltage.

So I'm starting to get into overclocking; reading guides here and there and messing with my BIOS. From what I've understood, my system will need to be stress tested and '' tortured '' by things like Prime95, LinX and/or AIDA64 to ensure its stability in its regular state. I'll also need RealTemp to monitor the temperature of my CPU. I would like to know if I'm missing out on anything else before I start testing my newly-built system and start my attempts at overclocking. Thanks a lot!

You can use Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) as well. It does a good job and has a decent interface.

Given that it was created by Intel, I trust it should give a reliable result for my 4790k? =o
