How does this Lenovo Z40 Sound

AHaskin14

It would be fore taking around campus at college with my main gaming rig being left in my room. i5 4200u, gt 820, 500gb and 8 gb ssd. 6gb memory. i like the bit higher specs since i may use it for very basic games like LOL and DOTA 2 when i dont want to carry the desktop around. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z40/?sb=:000001C9:00011E09:#customize

i look on the same website for info. i cant help but think having a dedicated gpu would still perform better. would it not?

Well it will be better because it is not using the system memory and it should be a little bit faster.

Maybe this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314383

That gpu is comparable to a 740m

Or this with a 840m:

too big. again im not aiming at raw gaming performance. campus compatibility is key....and id rather cut my balls off before having AMD (ima fanboy).

This laptop would give you a better GPU and a slightly better CPU for close to the same price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314535

The sole reviewer on Newegg for this laptop does have a point that 1366x768 on a 15" screen isn't ideal...but at your budget, you're probably not going to have many resolution options, and I'd imagine that the Acer Aspire would only look slightly worse than the Z40 with its same resolution but 14" screen.

Then again, if you're only playing LoL and Dota, integrated graphics would be perfectly fine, so you can find pretty much any Haswell laptop to your liking.

You should get something light, small and efficient. Intel HD 4400 will do everything you're aiming for. The GT 820M is pretty much on par with the integrated graphics, but yes, having that GPU will still help tbh because you have dedicated VRAM and don't waste system resources, especially if you only have 6GB of RAM.

That said, I'd recommend getting something smaller as you will find it much more pleasant when carrying around.

EDIT: If you want something bigger, the Acer Aspire mentioned above is a very good choice.
