Nexus 8 reliable leak , part of Android Silver line (by HTC)

Guest

Google Nexus 8 tablet will be the first device to be offered in the Android Silver line, according to reliable tipster @evleaks.

Mobile leakster Evan Blass dropped the interesting rumor that the Nexus 8 is Google's high end tablet that is between Nexus 7 and 10. Thanks to @evleaks, fundamental information about the Nexus 8 tablet has come to light.

According to the famous tech tipster, the Nexus 8 will sport a metal design, which has been mentioned in previous rumors. However, if this is true, this is the first time that Google will offer a device with metal back plate since its previous devices were housed in a plastic casing.

Under the hood, sources revealed that the device may intimidate other tablets because of its specs and features. The metal slab from Google may come with an 8.9-inch screen display with 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution, a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset paired with 5 GB RAM, which is the largest offered among mobiles device. The tablet will pack a 64 GB internal memory, and an 8-megapixel or 5-megapixel rear camera.

Moreover, the Nexus 8 may also come with BoomSound stereo speakers, which is a staple feature among HTC devices and one of the selling points of HTC One. Thus, this coincides with the rumor that HTC will take the helm in making the alleged powerful tablet.

Blass added that the Nexus 8 renders that surfaced recently were fakes and do not represent the HTC Volantis or Flounder, which were the codenames of the Nexus 8 tablet.

After the 8-inch tablet skipped its alleged release date last Google's I/O Developers' Conference, the device is speculated to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2014 the earliest. Previous reports claimed that the Android Silver line will be kicking off in early 2015. Now, the tablet is rumored to be released in October or November and may cost and may bear the price tag of $399 and up, which is a big jump from the existing Nexus 7 2013 which costs $239. However, the price is still lower compared to other tablets.

wow, considering the price jump, it still does offer a premium with the things listed. The speakers, processor, and ram inside. Hopefully these things or aspects of the tablet will be correctly executed and thought-out. This also means $$$ for HTC, and will get them off their feet.

Wanna hang out with me and people like @Theslsamg, @ Ssoele, @BENTHEREN, @Lanoi, @Whiskers, @_ASSASSIN_, @Looney, @WunderWuffle, and @nsyedhasan. Well.... Check out: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/48484-unofficial-linustechtips-teamschnitzel-server-teamspeak/

If I get this and my sister asks if she can have my N7(2013) I would casually toss the N7 her way without looking because I am busy with my N8 then.

Damn Google, why did you abandon your pricing scheme? Why couldn't you put in a 1080p screen, 32gb of storage and cut 150 bucks off the price?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

This has me really hopeful about the phones that will come from Android Silver.

At least, hopefully they follow the same balls out spec philosophy.

Maybe we'll see some serious camera improvements on a Nexus device.

If this turns out to be true, this will be awesome!! With a metal chassis and the Tegra K1, I wonder how hot it could get in the hand though.

@evleaks isn't that reliable from what I've seen.

He has been wrong a bunch of times before. Galaxy S 4 design, Galaxy S 5 GUI I think, The M8 having onscreen buttons, a bunch of times for the Nexus 5, the One Max having S4 Pro instead of Snapdragon 600, OnePlus tablet, the list goes on.

Those specs sounds good, but if they are going to wait even longer before releasing it I would like to see something better.

If they decide to go with the Tegra K1 they will probably go with the Denver CPU model. It sounds good but I'd rather see a Cortex A58 + Cortex A53 octa core (two quad core clusters). I don't really trust HTC for screen calibration either but hopefully Google can help make it as good as the Nexus 7 in that area.

Honestly though, my biggest complaint if this turns out to be true would be the screen size. Give me a 10" or bigger tablet! I'm stuck with my Nexus 10 because nobody except Samsung seems to be willing to make 10" tablets.

Assuming they will be using LPDDR3 RAM, I wonder why and how they will have 5GB RAM? Like, wouldn't it just be easier to fit dual channel 3GB RAM from Samsung or Micron for 6GB?

What module and what configuration would they be using for 5GB?

399 is too much, the MiPad that is running on a K1 is 281euros here. I am pretty sure Google will go the 1 to 1 dollar to euro route, if so 399 euro is way too much.
