LTT Forums CPU Overclocking Database!

You could run it through an aida stress test, prime it (make sure I can see the time started and I can see the windows clock to judge how much time has passed), folding isn't normally used as a stress testing tool, so I'd prefer you use something like aida or prime :). If it's truly 100% stable you can let it go while you sleep tonight, take a screencap in the morning and boom! Instant purple rank  :D

I'll do some prime tomorrow, so I can do it in a nice cool basement, and keep my eye on it. We are talking a netbook cooling solution. At least it's not like my old desktop that I'm using right now, where it's so damn loud I put it in my cabinent and closed the doors. It's literally 54 Celsius inside it right now. I can feel the 1/2 inch thick wood getting warm on the outside.

You're not a bother. And I'm happy, to show off my Atom. Then there's the suicide run I did on my Pentium 4 a few months ago. It IDLED around 60c. But for a stock heatsink with a dying fan designed for a 2.0GHz Celeron, not bad.

I would just like to apologize for the lack of inactivity when it came to updating the DB. Christmas, school, and track have kept me pretty busy these last 4 days. Things should be calm for the next 5 days or so however *sigh of relief* :P

On rows 55, 78 an Intel processor is yellow (unlike the rest which are blue), and row 114 is blank. Just thought you should know.

The 2 yellow marks show that the users are missing required data, so their entries were flagged. The empty row 114 was due to me having to remove the entry altogether and I can't refill it unfortunately.

i got a i5 3570k at 4.8ghz with my new msi mpower motherboard but something weird is going on

when applying an overclock in bios the multiplier ratio will drop to 16 after load.. so while idling, which is normal but here is the weird part, it won't go back up to 48 when it's under load again.

so now im overclocking with msi control panel and the ratio will stay 48, even when idling which also is not great... but yeah better there is also something wrong here.

when i set the v-core voltage to 1.4 in control panel the voltage only will go up to 1,336~~ and when under LOAD the voltage drop to 1.280v

is it save to still increase the voltage since it looks like it won't increase as much as i set it to?

also the temp on the hottest core is 70 degrees when using cinebench, is it save to increase voltage as long the temps are alright? or is there still a max?

First time poster here and new to overclocking.

Have any of you folks used RealBench?

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?40057-RealBench-v2.0-Public-Beta!-amp-Leaderboard

I have been using the Stress Test portion of it and it seems to be pretty good at finding instability in my overclocks.

Settings that were passing a quick and dirty test with AIDA64 are failing the RB stress test.

Just wondering if anyone here is using it and if so, what you think of it.

BTW, the current version of 2.0 you can download now is in RC status.

Once I have a good OC dialed in, I will be sure and submit it to the DB.

I was using the Asus Realbench for a while. But there are tweaks that you can do that can change your score which I don't like about it.

Infact I score basically the same from a certain core speed and up because its on a normal 1TB HDD.

I've had aida tests fail at 4 hours in before, so this is why I rank time stressed. So it may not have failed right away in aida, but it was bound to happen eventually ;)

Oh yeah, it will show up somehow, at sometime no doubt.

It's just that right now I'm trying to figure out where this chip fell in the silicon lottery.

Being new to overclocking I started out low and I'm working my way up.

This morning I was running this 4770K @42X and 1.146875 VCore.

It passed a "quick and dirty" run of the AIDA64 Benchmarks and 30 minutes of the stability test.

I then decided to try RealBench which I had installed last night while at stock settings.

It threw a 0X0000124 hard stop within 5 minutes.

After seeing that, I started running that test first. <shrug>

EDIT:

Last night I tested 44x @ 1.271 Vcore. (Manual voltage and RAM @1600 - 1.5 volts)

These settings ran IETU successfully overnight. (9 hours)

Fired up RealBench and was going to let that go while I'm at work.

It blue screened within 10 minutes.

I'll bump Vcore up a notch...

Hopefully by march I will have something to add to this, not going to bother with overclocking my 740qm  in my g73 laptop, although I did overclock my gpu in it slightly.

Gotta flash my bios 1st xD .

Would love to see you make a thread for GPU's that would also be very good.

NOTE: only downfall the DB colors need to be soften down a bit it hurts my eyes xD.

Still ok just a thought. Love this. :) :) :) ... :) you get an extra smile face xD
