Yes you don't have mods

Where are you? Are you still in Goodsprings? Do you have mods, because Project Nevada is a must have. As for the slow start, i'd say wait a bit. Get to the strip, start the main quest, and then see what you think of it.

I got the game too, it crashed and I literally spent two hole days just trying to fix it so that I could get it into a playable state along with some mods, then after the semi-engaging introduction with Doc I walked outside and then after about two minutes the game crashed again and I decided that no matter what was out there in the game, it was a piece of shit and I never want to play the game again.

PC MasterRace, whatever, mods are a tedious venture when half of them just end up making your game CTD, I'd rather go play Skyrim instead which is so much better on all fronts, and is so much more stable in my opinion.

Getting to the strip is long.

But otherwise, the game is AMAZING. I like Fallout 3 though.

Interesting...I felt the same way about Skyrim. Maybe apocalyptic wastelands littered with zombies and supermutants aren't your thing just like medieval RPGs aren't really my thing.

BTW, NV is pretty much broken. Like a lot of people, I get the endless loading screen and cannot access saves.

For me the funnest part about Fallout 3 and NV was just sneaking around scavenging for weapons/ammo and stealth killing everything.

Eh, a game crashing doesn't mean it's bad. If I gave up on a game after it crashing on me a few times and spending a good while trying to fix it I'd have missed out on a lot of amazing games, comes with the territory of PC I suppose. But I've never had any problems with FNV myself. What problem where you having exactly? The game doesn't really have any big issues (stability wise) out of the box.

OT: Yea the game is pretty slow to get going, I'm a huge Fallout fan myself but FNV was just didn't capture my attention. A few months after release I was bored and decided to play through it a bit more, now I have over 400 hours in it. :P

I just got past the hotel where you get Deputy Bates and the game seems extremely hard i cant hit worth a s*** maybe its just me but my character is super inaccurate and I feel as if the whole beginning thing qhere you get asked question was a stupid way to get started because I swear I did something wrong it seems like my character sucks.

Also as a stealth character with a suppressed weapon you can kill ANYONE without any negative effects as long as you remain [HIDDEN].  This is an easy way to acquire 556 ammo early in the game from killing NCR people, you can find the rat slayer (unique 556 bolt rifle which comes silenced) early in the game.

Just stick with it. Fallout: New Vegas is the best Fallout game in the series. If you continue with it, you will not be disappointed. The characters (NPCs too) are infinitely better than those in 3, the story is far more compelling and the quests are just way too much fun.

As for your inaccuracy, your characters abilities/etc will be different depending on what you set up in the start of the game. As @eisenzelle said, level up on gangers and the like. Don't try Deathclaws (those things are scary as hell) or Cazadores. You should find plenty of enemies around Good Springs to level up on or just a smidgen out further from the town (you have a follower now so it should be easier I think). :)

NV is stable. You need to check if the mods are compatible. If you install them one at a time and boot up, it may take ages, but you will know what the problem is. I've modded Fallout NV up to its tits and it still runs fine. I guess some people just have a bad experience.

The game is a bit slow to start. But so was skyrim after the first dragon battle. Give it time and see if you like it. You could try speed running it. I did that in 6 or so hours.
