Ohms?

Looking at DT880's and idk what ohm I should get. I would like to use them on my phone unless theres a huge drawback with going with a low Ohm. What should I pick, 32, 250 or 600. I know my desktop audio system can drive all of these but my little windows phone can probably only do 32Ohm. What one should I pick? How big is the difference and what kinda difference is it?

Way better resale value, just get an amp like the Fiio E6 for $30 with it.

If you'd like to use them with your phone, I would go for the 32ohm version so you can drive them, if you don't want to spend that much, the 200ohm version would probably work just as well

Dang it thats a good price. I really wanted to customize them the color I wanted but that price is too good to pass up

I would say that if you want to use them with your phone without a DAC then you almost have to get the 32 OHM version.

Yeah I was just writing this post as you updated.

As far as I can tell most portable amps only recommend using them with headphones of 300 Ohms impedance or lower, so you'll have to make a choice here.

theoretically yes, in practice, if they designed them well enough then no.

There are some minor exceptions where something like the DT770 80ohm sounds noticeably different, but I don't recall the 880 having that sort of distinction.

So going with 32Ohm isnt going matter because I use headphones on my phone a lot

I got DT 770s in the 250 ohm version, but I use a Fiio E10.

Actually they do sound different. Even beyerdynamic states that they sound different. The difference is that the lower impedance versions have heavier voice coils. It makes the impulse response somewhat worse so high impedance versions are preferable if you can drive them. The higher impedance versions are more precise, the low impedance versions tend to be more bassy because of the slower impulse response.

Take the information you need. If something puzzles you (from the video), do a crosscheck here in the forum. I like Tyler's (the guy in the video) videos, but sometimes he uses 'alien' words that's either unclear, or need extra digging around the net...
