No 24 pin connector on Mobo

Dazfeeder

I I have an Asus M70AD-NN desktop (yes i'm an arse and built pre-built) and I want to upgrade the GPU from a GTX 650 to a GTX 780, I know I have to upgrade the PSU to 600w.

Ive read reviews about my pc and they all said that I could upgrade if needed, so I thought cool, just need to buy the new parts, well no actually, as I opened the case I discovered that there wasnt a 24 pin connector anywhere to be seen, only this: http://instagram.com/p/prf_hGq0jn/?modal=true http://instagram.com/p/prf_hGq0jn/?modal=true

Im totally confused now as i cant seem to find a psu that doesnt use a 24 pin connector, it seems my Mobo uses an 8 pin and 2x 4 pin, plus why is the GPUplugged into the mobo?

any help will be great, thanks

Check around the edges of your mobo, that's where you'll find it.  All motherboards have it, you just need to know where it is.  Also, welcome to the forums!

The GPU should be inserted into the mobo in any case.

Take a picture of the ENTIRE board. As in everything.

Can you take a wider picture showing the whole motherboard please? all motherboards have 24pin connectors

in every pc the GPU goes into a slot on the motherboard, sometimes they require an external 6-8pin connector that is supplied by the PSU

That sir is where you are wrong. I was working on a *NEW* HP desktop. It had a standard 4 pin CPU power connector and a 6 pin for the motherboard only it was not a standard PCI-E 6 pin it was some proprietary crap. No 24 pin to be found.

Just follow the psu's motherboard cable and it will lead to the 24pin.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

If the system is old enough the motherboard may have a 20-pin main power connector instead of the 24-pin standard used today. Take a look at the old (existing) psu. Does it have a 20 or 24 pin connector? Is it still plugged in?

Yeah you can re-use the RAM, CPU, and check to make sure that you can reuse the CPU cooler because on some pre-built computers you can't

Is there a psu inside the case? If so, does it have a label on the side/bottom?

Appears to be a custom/oem psu a search of the AcBel web site provides no information on the model.

The motherboard does appear to use the mATX mounting points. You can verify that by comparing to page 10 of http://www.formfactors.org/developer/specs/atx/atx2_1.pdf.

You will not be able to find anything because the computer is too new. I know this sounds stupid but really because there aren't many that have broken down you will not be able to find anything.
