how can the 880 be faster with a smaller memory bus?

Unclescar

so if "the 780 (ti, or titans) doesn't have large enough memory bandwidth (384-bit) to effectively make use of 6gb of VRAM," and the 880 is supposed to have a smaller memory bus (256-bit) how can it effectively make use of the larger amounts of VRAM it is supposed to have?

I don't think I'm waiting for the 800 series unless its revealed to be leaps and bounds better, this is just hypothetical.

Edit: I apologize if I used the wrong terminology.. correct it if necessary.

it wont be as it seem now, the actually new card will be the 880Ti it seems which wont be out until mid next year probably until then the architecture will be the same as now i think or Maxwell but no real huge leap ahead

I'm pretty sure nothing has even been confirmed by nvidia.  My advice is to never listen to crap rumours until the actual company makes things officially announced.

I don't see why they'd go backwards in memory bandwidth, when AMD is moving forward in that sector.
