Little Emulation Box Specs?

Go to solution Solved by JAKEBAB,

should be fine to run those emulators but why not get a athlon 760k and 270x?

So, here we are again.

I am planning to build a new PC in a few months time. I will be using an Xbox One controller to control it all, but I need to know what some good specs would be. I don't want to spend a boatload, maybe around $500. I was thinking, would an i3 4130 with 8GB RAM and an ex-mining R9 270 or GTX 750 Ti be enough to play games from PlayStation 1, 2, Portable, NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and the original Xbox?

I have used a 760K before. I really have come to dislike the chips, seeing as the i3 and FX 6300 beat the living snot out of it for about $20-$30 more. They also run pretty damn hot, and it's going to be in a warm environment.

I appreciate the effort, but I hold some personal issues with this rig.

-too large

-too much is spent on motherboard, allowing for compromise with the overall power of the components

-95W AMD CPU + slim CPU cooler = fiery hot.

I am, in essence, an Intel fanboy in some senses. But, not for bad reason. The mATX boards on AM3+ are unarguably bad. Third party compaines pay no attention to the high end, instead catering to the absolute low end. Therefore, they are terrible quality. I like how I can buy an Intel H81 board for $55 and not worry about it blowing up under the power load, something worth mentioning with smaller form factor AM3+ machines.

Do you mind buying used parts? For $700 I built a PC with a GTX 780, FX6300, 8GB RAM, among other parts.

If you don't mind buying used, let me know. I can help you look around on eBay for some nice deals ;D

I would have done a minitx, but stupid amd doesn't have ITX

I understand the motherboard thing, I just wanted to ensure no throttling.

I do find that CPU cooler good for MINITX, but I forgot it wasn't minitx lol.

I don't completely mind buying used, but thee only things I would buy used are GPUs and case accessories, like fans and coolers.

If you are available tomorrow, we could talk in TeamSpeak I suppose? :D
