Im looking for a graphics card for around $500 to go in my desktop, It has a GT430 OC 1Gb right now but id like to upgrade. Im looking for something that will be used for gaming mostly, but can do a bit of video editing aswell. My CPU is an AMD A8 5600k. Any suggestions would be much appriciated.

You may run into a bottleneck with a really high end GPU, so I would suggest a 280x/GTX 770

Any graphics card $500, that CPU is probably gonna bottleneck it. I suggest you go with a GTX 750 ti with that cpu. It uses little power and performs exceptionally

even with a possibly small bottleneck a gpu that actually gets bottlenecked would perform better than one that dont get bottlenecked, but as shown by some vids, to bottleneck a 780Ti i think it was, he had to downgrade his cpu to a 2.4Ghz i3 cpu before he started to lose fps in BF4.

I'd agree with the suggestion of an R9-280X or GTX 770.. While you are close to being able to afford a 290X or 780 (both are a little over 500), you may want to pair one of those with a higher-end CPU in order to maximize performance..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

I'd say get a gtx770 or r9 280x (780 maybe but idk how much they cost) there will be a bottleneck but once you save up a bit more just upgrade to an i5 or what not. If you don't want bottleneck upgrade to an i5 right now and get a 270x

what games will you be playing? if your playing mmos your going to bottleneck any 500$ gpu. if your playing shooters your probably fine, skyrimish types maybe a slight bottleneck. Its mainly the game type ur playing that really tells you the bottleneck

I like everyones 280x / 770 recommendations.  I have a 5600K and a 760 and the 760 does fine.  It's not bottlenecked in benchmarks.

i have a Radeon R9 280 and mines bottlenecked in 3D mark and Valley Benchmark majorly but i have a cheap Processor. Still get 30-60 fps on almost all games but benchmakrs im dropped to 30 as a high and gpu usage is only around 40-60% usage

Well ik open world games use cpu a lot depending on a lot of things. Id upgrade your cpu to a i5 and ur graphics card to around a 270$ish card. thats about 500$ and will up your performance to around the same as a 500$ gpu but if u ever crossfire u will actually get a upgrade and not a moneysink

Get a GTX 770, R9 280X has been seeing a lot of driver issues for some reason or another. It'd fit your CPU best in my opinion.

This is the best answer. Your cpu is too limited for open world games. You'd better upgrade both the CPU and GPU for 500$.

... look if you like AMD and still want to stick around with, I would sell that cpu+mobo move on to am3+, get an FX 6350 and still have money left for an r9 280x. ++++OR++++ move to intel side such as Intel Pentium G3258 ($75)  if you OC (no need for aftercooler market) it it will perform just like an i3 4330 ($140) and with an asus z97 mobo will do it.
