How YouTube’s New Music Streaming Service Could Ruin YouTube

Mo5

YouTube’s long-rumored music streaming service may be on the verge of launching, but according to a new report from the Financial Times its release could be bad news for anyone who enjoys listening to music on YouTube’s website. Google will reportedly block any musicians who don’t sign up with the new streaming service from appearing on YouTube at all, in a move that would mainly affect small and medium-sized independent labels.

So apparently Youtube Music Pass (Google's competition to Spotify and similar services) could be a great danger to smaller musicians on Youtube. They could get blocked if they don't agree to their new streaming service.

I personally think Google won't be so harsh, but what is your opinion?

Go read the source for more details...

Quite the opposite: Look at how they've been treating gamers and let's players they just say "yeah fuck you, we're going to have a stupid bot take down your videos and entire channels to DMCA notices, we don't care who exploits that system, we don't care if you have over a million viewers, we're still going to fuck you" (See AngryJoe and TotalBisquit for examples of this)

They will definitely take way too much from artists. All the better though youtube is getting unnecessarily big and Google is acting like arrogant fucking asses about it, it needs to have a bunch of people losing interest massively and leaving the door open to more competition to get em to act nicely.

But they are blocking original content based on the creator not agreeing to googles bullshit music service.

Noooo!

Youtube is so great for music...

The thing is that there are way too many good artists that are very poorly advertised and youtube is one of the only places you can find them...

I usually youtube a genre of music like 'chillstep' and there would be like 1-5 hour mixes (sometimes original content sometimes not)

But it's a good way of finding out new artists.

Hopefully youtube doesn't ruin that.

That's illegal though so if they "ruin" that it is totally right.

YouTube is a great place for small musicians so if they do it will drive a load of them off which sucks. I suppose people with stuff like Monstercat will survive.

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.
