So.... the GT 740 was a 'silent' release.... it has 384 Cudo Cores and wait for it....... 4GB OF VRAM! There is a 4GB version. Why does such a weak card need so much VRAM?

Maybe 4GB will be the 'standard' now. :D

3GB is the standard? Last time I checked, that was only AMD, Nvidia GPUs generally only have a 2GB and a 4GB version.

780 - 3gb

780ti - 3gb

280 - 3gb

280x - 3gb

only the higher end cards like the 290 and titans have so much because they are intended for workstations and high resolutions

Some people thing that their graphics card performance is dictated by how much RAM it has. These people need selling to.

Don't say you wouldn't sell to them too, you would, it's free money. It's like what Apple does when they sell iPhones.

Compatible with Windows 95

great, now those "typical computer stores" will recommend these in stead of actual better ones

i already hear them say "sure this 740 is better than a 750 because it has more vram. thats the only thing that matters"

build log: diagonalmod (RIP?)

i know i use many of these: ( ) and these: ... (i really do... (sry...) ) edit: and edits

Seriously guys, what's with the big fuss over 4GB entry level cards?

cards like 4GB GT 620 and 4GB 6570 have been around since liek forever and the GT 740 isn't even as bad as those cards (it's just a rebrand/downclock of GTX 650)

not that it deserves 4GB of 128-bit DDR5 but you know the way the market works? There are people who buy these kinds of things

740 has either 2GB or 4GB of GDDR3 (equivalent to the 640v1) or 1GB or 2GB of GDDR5 (equivalent to the 650)
