How will the 280x perform in 2 years

So i want to get a new gpu in august and i think the 280x i will go with, and i dont want to buy another one in a year so how will it do for 2 years do you think

The card will still be the same, and if you wanted to play games that are around now you would see the same performance in them then as you do now. Ignoring the card degrading until it dies.

 

I think you mean, how will it perform in the games that will come out in around 2 years. It will likely get owned by Star Citizen, and Witcher 3 will probably kick its ass also. Other than that.. The GTX 660 is still a capable gaming card. The R9 280X won't be obsolete in a year or so. Maybe it won't give the cutting edge performance you want, but then you upgrade.

Probably mid-high, yeah. Also depends on how long they choose to go without releasing new cards.... Like 6xx and 7xxx. Those lasted around 2 years didn't they?

The 7970 still plays extremely well at 1080p when it launched in 2012. Your point is invalid.

thing is, if you set the graphics in a game in 5 years to what the games looks like right now you will have about the same fps... maybe even more if the drivers get better, but better looking games will demand more if you want to run them like that, but med settings in the future will be better than Skyrim with mods and ENB....

The R9 280X in 2 years? This can go in so many ways and knowing human predictions, nobody really knows. I'd say it will do well around the mid-high or mid settings on most titles instead of doing high settings well. As for unopitimized and demanding games, probably mid settings. At worst: mid-low settings. Now for all we know, games could end up being really optimized or not demanding and it'll pull mid-high and high settings fine. Or something horrible happens and every GPU out now just drops like rocks and can't even open the splash screen of the game. And you know what's even worse? The world becoming like 1984 or enthralled and enslaved into mindless fleshbags. Hey, I'd take death over that any day.

I had a GTX 480 since 2010, it beat's standard 660Ti's with an overclock and in some games was approaching 7950 territory...

 

 

 

 

 

4 years after it's debut it can still play games on medium to high settings with no issues, though my card died early this year forcing me to upgrade sadly or i would still be on it.
