Hey guys I have a problem with my ram

I have 4x8 gb ddr4 3600 mhz ( I know I’m poor) Corsair vengeance ram but sadly when I try to run it even on 3200 or even 3000 mhz my pc doesn’t post or crashes. I ran fine for nearly 2 years but for the past year I have been fighting it sometimes even for weeks it’s fine other times I have to remove the ram to get the system to post. I even replaced my motherboard didn’t fix the issue. Got any ideas why it just sometimes decides to stop working

system specs

Cpu : Ryzen 7 5800x

gpu: rtx 3070

motherboard: b450 Msi gaming plus old one was a b450 thamahak msi

psu : 650 w Corsair gold I think

the fault is sometimes different but usually it’s : fault in non page area or something like that

I know it’s not a lot to go on

bios is on the newest version but I can’t afford a new pc

sounds like to (near) dead RAM to me, did you try every single RAM stick in the first slot and run it at the proper speed? maybe there's one stick faulty

did you try coupling them by 2? maybe there's an issue somewhere, so:

2-3

2-4

3-4

it's most likely a RAM sticks issue, i doubt it's an issue with the mobo because having 2 dead motherboards specially a newer one would be really "lucky"

Using more than two sticks can often be an issue at higher speeds. It's generally better to use 2x16, rather than 4x8 for that reason. You might need to lower speeds a bit to get it stable.

First thing to check would be if you're on the latest BIOS. Newer versions can sometimes improve compatibility.

Updated just a couple of weeks ago even running at 2133 still crashes it so either one of the slots is dead or it’s a timing issue but I am running out of ideas

for DDR5 i would agree, for DDR4 though i've never had issues with corsair vengeance 4x8 config, i could even overclock my sticks and having them stable over the years

@OHHwell check carefully BOTH the couples of sticks you have and compare the SKU. the SKU tells you the exact model and the timings/subtimings, you might have a slight mismatch in the timings that makes your PC crash.

if they are the same there could be an issue somewhere else, i doubt it's in your windows system but at this point try a DISM run and then an SFC /scannow just to be sure

Yeah but was that hynix ones or samsung? The hynix ones are pretty bad generally, but it also depends on the BIOS rather than the CPU in my experience

(on my MSI b350 board it took like 3 or 4 years of updates to make them somewhat "stable" 👀)

@y0ur5h4d0w  hey thanks for the suggestion checked the sku and they are different Cmw16gx4m2d3600c18  Cmw16gx4m2z3600c18 seems im not the only one with this problem looked on redit exact fault code seems like a problem with these models not working together well so will be selling the old one off and buying a mathching Z one
