I used one of those websites to download a video from youtube in .mp3 format and I had 2 of these notifications.. wtf?

I just ran Window's 10 quick exam with the default Windows antivirus thing and it did not detect anything. For firewall I use Simplewall which disables the default firewall. I don't get it, what the hell was that?

I have deleted all cookies, cache, etc from firefox, and hopefully it no longer shows up, but im paranoid something is wrong, like wtf, how does a website send you a Windows notification?

I did not install anything, or download anything but the mp3 file.

Would need to see your broswers notification settings for that domain. Modern browsers typically ask if you want to enable notifications and you can just hit deny, but not all users read before clicking things. I'm only familiar with Chrome but Firefox's settings presumably have a similar section for checking if notifications are allowed or not per domain.

Remember, the majority of keeping yourself safe on the internet is simply smart browsing habits. Anti-virus and firewalls can only do so much.

Try to stay away from sketchy sites moving forward, there are better, trusted methods for doing what you were trying to do.

Websites can send you notifications through your browser if you allow them to (as you can see the notiication says it comes from firefox), firefox likely asked you whether you wanted to allow notifications from that website and you probably clicked "yes" accidentally.

The good news is that this is not a security threat, just very annoying. In the link provided above by @DoctorNick you can disable them for this and all other websites.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*
