780 Overclocking Question

So I'm overclocking my 780 LIGHTNING and I get the core where I want it then I start to bump up memory and all the sudden my core clock drops 1000Mhz.... Why?

 

 

Its not throttling because its too hot, When it throttles it only goes down 10Mhz

Maybe it's throttling back because the GPU is not needed?

 

If you're in a game or benchmark, it will bump itself back up to 1010Mhz because the GPU is being used.

That's weird, maybe just don't OC memory. It does basically nothing.

No with the OC it can reach 1294Mhz, when it throttles it goes down to 1280Mhz. Its running BF4 with image scaling set on 130% and it pins the GPU @ 99%

So you have overclocked your GPU 261 Mhz over stock?

230Mhz, I guess the GPU is OCing more than I have it set too. I heard on OC3D that the LIGHTNING cards would do that because according to GPUZ it will only reach 1263 at my current OC.

109% is the NV Limit, it might be going to high

Thats the problem. In afterburner its constantly hitting on voltage and power which I both have at the max.

 

Time to go to LN2 mode I guess

You should have done that from the start...

If this doesn't solve the problem you have two options:

a) turn down your clock speeds until it doesnt underclock any more

or

b) upload a custom bios that allows your card to go over 110% power limit (like the EVGA kingpin does)

option b will void your warranty, but if you really want to do it then its your responsibility
