I need a good USB hub that I can double sided tape to the bottom of my desk for charging thing's as well as my keyboard and mouse.  I had one a few years ago and it broke and I never replaced it.

motherboard is X870 eagle so it has USB4 but I don't need throughput unless I put something like a USB stick in it.

I just don't want something that is going to add delay to my keyboard and mouse.

If your monitor has a built in hub, it's a great place to stick a couple wireless dongles.  I used to just ignore this feature but now use it for my Xbox controller dongle and the dongle for my headset.

that actually seems like a good idea but for example the "hub" (if it is one) on my monitor is so badly designed its nigh impossible to access, which means I'd need to have a bunch of usb cables/dongles hanging out of it at all times... messy and kinda impractical.

Definitely impractical if you need frequent access to it.  I just leave the dongles plugged in all the time.  For something to mount under your desk, you'll have to just look at a bunch and see what will work for your application.  Many have fixed cables that will be too short.  The form factor you would prefer to make the sockets accessible but not interfere under your desk would be very specific.  I'm sure many can recommend a decent USB hub, but only you can say if it'll work in your particular situation.

So there aren't any thing's to avoid?  I like making posts but actually made this one because I thought there was a reasonable chance of buyers remorse with something that wouldn't work right.  Or is that a thing of the past?

  • 1 month later...

i just lost my USB hub so i came here looking for reccomendations too. the most important thing is go with a brand or name that you trust. most of the ones you find on amazon that meet your needs in terms of number of ports, or whether or not it has this or that feature are kind of fly by night where they are here one minute, gone the next and opened up a new shop under a new name so they dont have to face legal issues from selling bad products but i am getting off topic. the one i just lost was a 7 port, 3.0 from inland which is a micro center company. i can not find the exact one anymore on their site but i would look into inland or j5create
