GIGABYTE P650B 650W

Both in the C-tier, so perhaps not too bad.

But still the lack of 24-pin is a tad worrying.

So i have optiplex 9020MT and i currently got Evga 600W W1 and i was thinking if i should upgrade to THERMALTAKE Toughpower GX1 600W and if it can even fit inside the case if anybody knows? and if it cant i thought about going for GIGABYTE P650B 650W and i think that can indeed fit

The Dell OEM PSU are better than an EVGA W1

Makes no sense to upgrade them unless it's blown up for some reason, but then you can't use standard ATX PSU with 24pin, needs to get another Dell PSU

You guys know adapters exist that let you connect a standard ATX 24 pin power supply to an Optiplex motherboard, right?

I wonder if OP is using one at the moment?

( Nevertheless the  Evga 600W W1 is a must go "Tier F • Replace immediately" )

I think you'll just have to break out a measuring tape and check for yourself.

Ridiculously huge 1000+ watt supplies might not fit, but the x020 was before Dell put half-size SFF power supplies in their tower chassis so a regular size one should be okay. If anything, you might have to drill new mounting holes or cut some metal away from where the new power supply's plug and/or switch lands.

Big oof

I will say this about the W1:

  • When it was reviewed years ago, it was fine.
  • In the past it was higher up on the tier lists.
  • In the past they had a good cheap price, now they do not.
  • I don't know if the quality has changed over time.
  • I would like to see a comparison between the old and newer units.
  • For the same price now you can buy the better bronze efficiency Corsair CX 650.

It has always been a low end, group regulated PSU. By 2015, when the 600W version was 80+ certified, the Corsair CXM 2015 would have been out, also a low end PSU, which at least had DC-DC for the minor rails.

Who cares about tier lists, outside of 12 year olds arguing about their favourite Smash Bros characters?

I'll once again compare it to the CXM, the lower wattage versions used to be available for ~$25 after rebate quite frequently for a long time.

Okay...?

You can literallly look at the performance of the W1 and of a modern PSU and compare the results for yourself. Cybenetics has the W1, so just compare the report for it to the reports of any modern PSU on there.

Having an 80+ Bronze rating does not make a PSU better. The CX650 2023 is group regulated trash, just like the W1.

:)

OddOod showed it, I feel the list is a good rough guide, but is sometimes to critical.

I'm talking about old W1 vs newer W1.

I never claimed an 80+ Bronze rating makes a PSU better. Also the CX series is superior to the W1, well at least it was in the past.
