First of all, hello to all of you. That’s my first post in this forum.

I live in Turkey, but I spend part of the summer in England. Unfortunately, Apple Pay is not used in Turkey. There are some challenging ways, but they really aren't ideal for long-term use. Additionally, since I am 17 years old, it is not possible for me to use these ways right now. That's why I thought of a different way. I'm planning to buy a prepaid card from one of the supermarkets in England. PayPal is not possible because, just like Apple Pay, it is not used in our country. Anyway, I am thinking of creating an account with the prepaid card I will buy and loading both Sterling and Turkish Lira into it via my bank account and credit card. In this way, I will be able to use Apple Pay both while staying in the UK and when I return to Turkey.

This is the plan I have in mind, and I'm worried there might be some problems I haven't thought of. So I'm asking you what you think about this and what prepaid card you recommend a 17 year old could use in the UK.

Thank you for your answers.

I don’t, no. But I don’t work at a bank.

Wise is a card in the uk that you could look into - I don’t know much about it but I see that card in Apple Pay lots.

I've heard of this card before too. I'm not sure if it's only sold in grocery stores. As far as I know, you have to order to an address. I can order it to the hotel, but there is a possibility that it will be lost. My priority is to get a card that I can directly purchase and activate.

Can’t you just open a UK chequing account when you’re there?

In the UK, we call them current accounts.

If you're not a UK resident, getting an account in the UK could be difficult. You have to pass lots of money laundering checks, and that may be impossible without a permanent UK address.

Here is a link to some information on UK pre-paid cards. You will likely need different cards for GBP and TRY.

Why can't you just use your turkish bank card in the uk?

And why is there no apple pie in Turkey? This country is a candidate for the European Union, what is the problem?

The permission Apple received in Europe covers the European Union and paves the way for Apple Pay to be used in Europe. In Turkey, local permission is required and certain conditions and inspections are required for this. The issue of data sharing comes into play and Apple does not want to move data outside of America.

In addition, Apple charges banks a fee for each transaction made by adding a card to Apple Pay. This is of course an additional cost for banks. Banks are not very willing to pay this fee.

There may be a few more problems but these are the ones I know.
