My Samsung 970 Evo plus is write protected

Hey, I recently got a registry error bsod, my computer hasn't recovered since. I tried reinstalling windows but the installer is saying that the disk is write protected, I have no problem with losing all of the data on the drive, the drive itself is only 2 years old.

Is there a way to fix this write protection so I can install windows properly?

P.s: I have 2 media sticks (one with Linux and one with Windows) so I can execute Linux commands if necessary.

I just had a 970 NVME also die on me.

You may need to RMA it.  Or just get a new drive.

You can attempt to use linux to format whole drive by using disk manager, I'm sure disk manager can just remove it.

Unless go with die hard and overwrite whole disk by issuing this command in linux

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdX status=progress

Change the X to the device you want to Cleanse from Filty bits.

This method will take while so use this as last resort.

What's gonna do you ask, it's gonna put whole data on disk to 0 basically clean slate although not like new.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Regardless of compatibility 🐧🖖
