I help run a discord server for Skyrim Modding, and let me tell you all the real, hard facts about Bethesda's recent updates to Skyrim and Fallout.
They're adding NOTHING that was not already fixed by a mod. So why, then, you might ask?
PAID MOD STORE.
Todd Howard and co are adding paid mod stores to Skyrim and Fallout because they want a bigger share of the pie, and now that the clamour over this has died down, now they can get away with it.
Skyrim got updated twice (and by the way, they 100% broke their Copyright protection in the first update, that's how desperate they were to crap out that turd of a store) and most players still play on version 640 because the later two do, i kid you not, not one gameplay affecting change, other than add the store, and break mods. It gets even better.
Bethesda has no reliable method to confirm ownership of mods, OR are not bothering to do so. For a while, people were simply taking the most popular mods on nexus, and dropping them wholesale into the Bethesda store, and earning money from someone else's work.

Honestly, i don't think anyone should be celebrating the wholesale destruction of a 10+ year old modding community by a developer desperate for cash after their latest game flopped hard.
