First time pc build, 2k USD, moderate gaming, second round

Budget (including currency):  2000 USD (yes I'm slightly over budget for this pick, but that's acceptable)

Country: Hongkong/China & US (I can get the parts from the US, I don't think there'll be an issue with shipping or acquiring them to HK)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: See

for more detailed explantion. Mostly web surfing, moderate gaming, most of the performence requirements will be used to play around ML and generative AIs.

Quote

- It's going to bt 99% internet surfing, I'm terminally online, watching videos, and staring at the screen. With a bad habit of keeping a lot of tabs, windows, and programs together. Discord, mail, photoshop, if anything I can run the the background without needing to occupy the window, it's likely going to be in the background.

- Moderate gaming. Like gosh, a handful of times a month? Mostly last generation of games, StarCraft, Halo MCC, pre-2010 COD and Battlefield, Hades, I do want to try newer titles like Halo Infinite. And I do plan to play those games as visually amazing as possible. But nothing crazy with like 4K on 144Hz.

- Generate AI. Probably the real reason I'm picking a good GPU. Just playing around with them. Stable Diffusion, local LLMs, TTS. Both using and training.

I swear it's not spaming or reposting because I didn't get that much engagment last time. I did take into account @Why_Me's recommendations and made some changes.

Motherboard - Does the form factor matter to performance? Since I realized a mid-tower would fit a full ATX motherboard and it's price comparable with the same chipset. I heard the B chips are more mid-tier. Does it matter that much here?

Storage - Is there something wrong with WD SN850? Does it just not worth the price because one wouldn't use most of its performance?

Video Card - Which manufactor do you guys recommend based on warrant, service, and complient software? I was using this https://www.techpowerup.com/review/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-4070-ti-super-gaming-oc/39.html as a general benchmark other than the price.

Case - Am I stressing too much about cooling and airlow? Or are the most basic cases are fine?

Well, The form factor doesn't affect performance. A B Mobo for an Intel CPU isn't the best, since you can't overclock. You will get good performance, byt try to get a Z Mobo if you want to overclock. I think your storage is fine. Its decent for the price. However, it is kinda expensive. For the Video card, there really isn't a "best" brand. However, for the 4070 ti super, the best card would be an Asus ROG. However, its overpriced. You should be fine with the tuf, since it is a decently designed card. Asus also has pretty good software. You don't have to stress on the case, since the one you picked has good airflow. However, most basic cases have good enough airflow.

Not much unless you're going to OC or use pcie 5

at $180 it's not a good deal anyways. The GM7000 from acer is about $50-$60 less and has still got DRAM, or you can get a DRAMless for $105. Since you have the budget I'd say get the ssd with dram

no, but at this price it's a bad option. Do all these prices consider the shipping to hong kong? Check the prices for shipping of competing components

It honestly doesn't matter too much unless there's a specific problem with that model (in which case it should've been recalled) so find the cheapest one with 4 star and up reviews, such as this one PNY VERTO OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB Video Card (VCG4070TS16TFXPB1-O) - PCPartPicker

You might not have heard of the company but it's decent and is $50 less than the gigabyte

not bad though that CL latency is a bit high and the 4000D airflow (i've had it) isn't great for the money when the 903 MAX is better for airflow, includes more fans and can store a larger rad up top

try this

the sn850x is a good drive but it isn't THAT good. DRAM ssds can be had for less, 980 pro is $165 (though that still isn't great value)

I've heard a lot of complaints for ROG 4090s that they've got a lot of coil whine, it might not be the same for the 4070 ti super but just something to keep in mind

If form factor doesn't impact performance then just get an ATX board since it can fit? What's the point for microATX then? Small form factor builds?

I never did overclock before so, hmmm....

Well, the "budget" isn't really a hardset limit, more of a goal post I try not to get into reckless spending for expensive over-the-top components I've not really going to get uses out of.

Certain parts (like the mobo, case, and coolers) I'm going to buy locally, others one of my relative is visiting and they said they have a free luggage to bring goodies.

Thank you for the recommendation, I did heard of PNY, I just wasn't sure of the companies to pick from until this point.

CL latency is a bit high, so too high for the rest of the set up? Thank you for the input on the case.

Thank you for the selection, I'll take a look at my purchasing options.

I did think about the 4070 Ti Super and 4080 Super, I just didn't think the performance justifies the price difference. Most people seem to have only a 10-15% improvement benchmark in games and Stable Diffusion tests.

if you're not going to OC then don't worry unless you need some features on the z790. You haven't got a pcie 5 gpu or ssd so don't worry about that either

for the 4080 super? Should be more like 20% better in games, idk about stable diffusion

if we stick with the 4070 ti super

A 1000w psu should last you a long time before you need to upgrade it, and since it’s so cheap, it’s a good option
