SO-DIMM slot died after recent windows update. Is it fixable?

After the recent Windows 11 update, I got a BSOD and my Legion 5 15ach6h stopped posting.
To troubleshoot I tried:

  • Battery disconnect and power drain
  • Removing SSDs
  • Tried disconnecting the CMOS battery (Destroyed the connector. :'()
  • Removing RAMs (One of them turned out to be faulty)

I am not quite sure but I think you can replace the CMOS connector.

But is the SO-DIMM slot on my laptop fixable?

Here's the screenshot of my update history,

I have the same laptop.

It is probably a coincidence it happened when you did updates. Have you tried both modules to confirm which modules work, and which slots work?

By an amatur? Unlikely. You'd be better off with a new mainboard. To fix you'd need a rework station and a lot of luck.

How sure are you that the slot is dead? You test both stick in both slots individually?
Also, are you still in warranty?

Yes. Both of the modules work and the laptop does not post on one of the slots.

Unfortunately, I'm out of the warranty period.

Do you see anything wrong with it? Make sure everything is in place, and the contacts on the modules are clean.

Tried it. Won't post when both RAMs are in or if there's one in the faulty one. 🥲 And I'm not sure if I can find anyone who could fix such an issue where I live.

I'd contact MSI anyways. See if they can help you out. Otherwise, you're boned.
I'd be very surprised if it was actually a windows update that broke it, almost impossible to actually lay the blame on them.
Sorry this happened
