So its like 28 celcius hot here and I'm on the edge of melting.....until I get this brilliant idea! wire up a old PSU under my desk, set up 5 of molex into 3 pin adapters and put some fans to work

I used a 7,000RPM, 130CFM Delta doing this last summer. Nice and cool, but really damn loud.

 

EDIT: ONLY 28C?!?!?!?!? I WOULD LOVE THAT TEMP RIGHT NOW WITH LOW HUMIDITY AT LEAST. Overuse of caps lock is done now.

By a desk fan from the local store, then put some gold dollar earrings on the fan and you've got yourself a ghetto fan.

Or..live in England where we very rarely get temperatures above 15 Degrees celsius.

I do the same with some spare fans. My room gets very hot in the summer and becomes unbearable sometimes  :lol:

Those are legacy GPUs...while AMD's 79xx and r9 2xx are current gen.

and among those there is only one gpu that that get's really hot, partly because of high power consumption but also because of an absolutely horrible stock cooling solution, so again, i really don't see why this has become a thing.

Let's bring up old cards to not feel bad about ones own purchase.

 

 

I owned a 480, was hot as bollocks, still got the flack, yet ATi's previous were as hot or hotter.

not sure what you are getting at here, i own a 7950 and i love it, it's a great card, don't really care too much about what people say about the 290 or 290x, in general amd has abit higher power consumption compared to nvidia, if you want the most elegant solution nvidia is the way to go, but i'm rooting for amd.

I was not implying you own one, just a general statement to these kind of posts.

 

I respect you rooting for AMD, i had a 290 before my 780's, only moved because i had issues with drivers in games i play, and i was moving to more pixels.
