BSOD when trying to start VM

2W10

Hi,

On my gaming PC when I try to start a VM on VMWare Pro 16 I get a BSOD. I get: EXCEPTION_ON_ INVALID STACK BSOD. I've enabled everything needed for virtualization in BIOS. This is my build list (I got a different GPU, but it’s still an RTX 4070) https://newegg.io/8f3ca36. I have an ASrock Z690 PG Riptide motherboard (here's the manual: https://download.asrock.com/Manual/Z690 PG Riptide.pdf). How do I fix this?

If you hadn't enabled the necessary features, VMWare would simply refuse to start virtual machines. If you aren't on the latest BIOS already, might be worth a try (https://pg.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z690 PG Riptide/index.asp#BIOS). Unfortunately their change logs aren't very informative.

Microsoft has some info on that exception (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0x1aa-exception-on-invalid-stack), but it's not that useful if you're not a developer. It mostly comes down to: possible bug in a driver. So maybe try updating drivers as well.
