Should i consider upgrading my pc or build a new pc from scratch?

Budget (including currency): 850 eur (CA$1,252.14)

Country: Portugal

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: R6s, Gta rp, cod warzone

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

what i have:

intel core i5-4690k 3.50Ghz

2x Team 8GB DDR3 ram 1600mhz

Kingston 112 ssd

Nvidia GTX 1080 strix

NZXT phantom case

im just asking if its worth upgrading this pc or do i sell it to help fund a new pc becasue everytime i play games i keep freezing crashed etc i cant even open cod warzone becasue i keep blue screening i built this pc back in 2014 i originally had a zotac 780ti and upgraded it to play vr thats why i got the 1080.

The GTX 1080 is certainly still a decent 1080p card and upgrading the rest of the system will remove a lot of CPU bottlenecking as the i5-4690k is.. Lets be honest, quite garbage by today's standard.

 

Going for a full upgrade but keeping the 1080 should be doable, we can also keep the NZXT phantom case.

This would leave you with a decent system to put a faster GPU in down the line when you can afford one.

850 Euros should give you a nice system exluding the case and GPU.

Defintely new cpu/mobo/ram as your first priority. 

Got rid of my old 4690k back in 2021, it was quite noticeable. 

That said, you can keep it around if you wanna play around with some sort of home server or media center. 

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)
