ASUS ROG PG35VQ worth it?

I have opportunity to buy this Quantum Dot 1000nit 200Hz 3540x1440 G-Sync ultimate monitor for £495. Is it worth it in 2024? Or should I just get a cheaper one like Samsung G5 with 165hz for £225?

If wanna go new you can do a gigabyte m27q or one of its variants

Not brand loyal, most of my stuff is MSI or Samsung or Corsair. Only my mobo is ASUS. I'm sort of asking in retrospective to other monitors if it's worth paying this much for something from 2020.

I was looking into G5 and that's £225. But here I'm getting proper HDR experience and comes with 2 years warranty (it's 2nd hand shop btw)

I had the PG35VQ in the past. It can get very bright and has a decent amount of dimming zones, so HDR is pretty good, but the response times really weren't that good. There was significant ghosting especially in the VA-typical darker areas of the screen. It also has a fan in it, so depending on how loud your overall setup is, it might be audible. But even while keeping the downsides in mind, sub 500 doesn't seem like a bad price to me.

It's for a laptop with GT500 laptop cooler than is loud, and I just wear headphones.

 

Everything below this price point comes with HDR400 165Hz same resolution and is G-Sync compatible rather than proper G-Sync etc

G5 has brightness of 250 nit for half the price etc

Native G-Sync vs. just compatible doesn't matter in my experience. All in all it's a good Ultrawide monitor for 500. Like I said, good HDR with over 1000 nits and full array local dimming, decent color accuracity and gamut and 200Hz is a nice bonus even if it's not that noticeable thanks to VA ghosting. If it even comes with warranty, I'd say go for it.
