Intel or Amd ? confused by mixed reviews

Just installed the PC and just noticed that the store send me the wrong ram 😄

i asked for 2 sets of 2x8gb but they send me 2x16 kits and now i have 64gb ram

the build is finished though. however the ram did cause some hickups at first so i had to update the bios and now its working fine.

Is the screen dark like it's not getting signal or what is happening?

Don't panic: First boot on AM5 does memory training: can take 10mins or so on 2x16Gb sticks ... I'm sure I've seen people saying it took longer with 4 sticks, but not sure how much longer.

If it is taking 15min on a regular basis, then it implies that there's a problem with the BIOS not storing the memory details properly. Test them 2 sticks at a time?

Redo all the PSU connections, on both sides of the cable.  Something isn't getting power.   Once that is checked, then we look at defective components.

But most likely you connected something wrong.

Case in point... I transferred my rig to a new case yesterday and didn't put the case PWR Switch lead in right, no startup.  Even a 30+ year builder gets things wrong when they hurry and don't pay attention.

Hello,

i just checked everything. everything has been reset to every socket even the CPU, powercables checked and such

and added the two sticks of ram and the pc boots like it did with 2 sticks. i followed BahnStormer's comment and had the pc do the so called memory training.

the pc eventually booted with 64gb at standard settings ( no OC ). does the motherboard have to do the memory training all over again once i set the OC settings ?

best regards

There is a BIOD setting called Memory Context Restore or something, that'll tell it to now retrain every time.

Also, the newer BIOS's reduce the training needs a lot.  So make sure you're fully updated.

Mine doesn't train long at all anymore.  15-20 second boots now.

Bios update would be the only thing, 4 sticks of DDR5 are unstable and so youll need to memory train every boot id say. Sadly i got the losing lottery in either my board or cpu memory controller as im not stable with 2x16GB of 6000CL32 Trident Neo if i dont memory train

It was just a guess... but I've heard a LOT of comments about people getting caught out with how long memory training takes, ESPECIALLY with 4 sticks.
