N-key rollover problems on my Keychron Q6 Pro

cleric_warlock

I was testing my new keyboard to make sure everything was working properly before I started modding it and everything seemed perfectly fine until i got to rollover testing. All the keys register correctly, but my board which is listed as having N-key rollover consistently tests as having a 6-key rollover maximum in every different testing application I've used. I was thinking of reflashing the firmware, but for some reason keychon's website warns that doing this could damage the board. Should I ignore this warning and do it anyway or is there another known fix to this issue? I'm using the Q6 pro with a windows 11 pro machine in hardwired mode.

Almost all firmware updates are warned that it can brick the device if it does wrong and to only do so if you are having a problem it needs to fix, which clearly you are.

I'd contact their support about the problem, see what they advise.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

I’m new to high end mechanical keyboards, so i didn’t realize that nkro was toggled to the off position by default. All I had to do was press Fn + n to toggle it on. Board’s perfectly fine!

USB protocol only supports 6 key rollover. Companies basically hack together N-key rollover by emulating multiple usb interfaces. There's usually a way to turn off nkey rollover for bios compatibility on older/finicky boards which it seems is what happened here.

The only true native way to get n-key rollover is with PS/2.
