Have Samsung copyrighted the very notion of a "square phone"?

Every single phone out that has rounded edges except Samsung's ultimate flagship. Why?

I like this design. It looks very nice. I want square/flat edges, but I also don't want a 1800$ phone.

 

Is it illegal for other manufacturers to use this design, or do they just not want to?

Ehh they are all the same slab once you put a cover on em.

 

The only differentiating thing is how many holes they have
