Oled monitor users?

Buttr

I’m thinking about getting the Alienware 1440p 360hz. In your opinion is such thing worth it for color, viewing angles etc. My main concern is the burn in what are shone ways I can’t prevent it and would it last me at least 2-3 years. My room is very dark and would prob be 30% brightness. I also have 4k Oled but it’s in brighter area and looks amazing main concern again being burn in from my pc.

We've had this discussion numerous times but if you're not comfortable with the risk of burn in, get something else.

Personally I have no issue with the risk and absolutely love OLED for desktop use. You cannot guarantee it'll never happen, you can only follow best practices. Liberal use of screensavers, dark mode extensions for your browser, low SDR brightness in Windows (if using HDR mode all the time like I am).

Register your monitor/TV when you get it to ensure you have no warranty claim issues and just enjoy it.

I understand the risks to oled but if I take all precautions you would it be reasonable to last 2-3 years with minimal burn in.

judging from last gen's displays, it'll last more than 2-3 years, and the 360hz is likely better. The only problem i have with OLED is the color volume in some situations (less of an issue on QD-OLED compared to WOLED and likely less of an issue for 2024 models), and it's not as big of a concern as burn-ins. Neither of those stopped me from buying one, the 2024 QD-OLED seems like the way to go.

Things will keep getting better. I'm at 4300 hours now on my C2 used purely for PC desktop use, not a hint of burn in. HDR on all the time but the SDR content slider at 10%.

Plan to replace it once the 5120x2160 21:9 WOLED's from LG are a thing.

You should really not worry about burn in if you use the pixel refresher and panel refresh at the recommended interval.

That's especially true if you're getting an alienware monitor, with their 3 year burn in included warranty.

I have the AW3423DW and after about a year it has no noticable burn in, only when I look for it and look at a 5% gray picture there is a bit of burn in on the sides (past the 16:9 borders), probably because I use it for 16:9 content. Shouldn't be a problem for a 16:9 monitor.

Oled is great and this generation of monitors, I think, is the generation to buy. If you're patient wait for other monitors of the same panel to compare to (but they won't have burn in included warranty).
