A monitor will put you well over $1,500.  And what about a case?  And personally I would add an SSD for the OS.

I would recommend an EVGA PSU.  Cheaper than $200.00, fully modular, and 80+ Gold efficiency.  Think it's around $140.00 on newegg for an 850W.

Room to spare, and an upgradeable PSU. Most of your parts had no actual benefit, other than sex appeal.

I budget build well. Want to learn? PM me if you want advice.

change the motherboard to a UD3H and cut down on the PSU to a 750-650w and the case isn't too good so you can go ahead and change that, and that would be a good build

What is the purpose of your build?  What will you be using it for primarily?

I would wait until Devil's Canyon is released, sometime in June, as early as the 2nd.  Buy either an i5-4690k or i7-4790k and pair it with a Z97 Motherboard.  The RoG line of motherboards is a waste of money.  Motherboard doesn't impact performance, it is all about what features it has.  Get a Z97-A, less expensive, and the same features.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($269.99 @ Micro Center) <-- Wait for Devil's Canyon
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($89.99 @ Amazon) <-- Either go for a full 240mm radiator, or use an air cooler.
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($149.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  ($72.99 @ Newegg)

Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Double Dissipation Video Card  ($499.99 @ Amazon) <-- 290X > 780 While the 290X is hotter, it performs much better, and at the same price.
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case  ($59.99 @ Newegg) <-- Another really good price for a really good case, but it now.
Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($69.99 @ Newegg) <-- Buy this NOW!  750W is enough for SLI/Xfire

All you need is an i5 then.  Wait for the i5-4690k.  I see no benefit in getting an i7 over an i5 for what you intend to use the PC for.  If you would like the peace of mind that you have hyperthreading, then by all means, i7.  But as the landscape of games currently stands, games do not benefit from hyperthreading when you have 4 or more cores.  Hyperthreading on an i3 is another story.

Don't get a workstation grade motherboard, it is wasted money.  Even the Asus Z97-A has more features than you will ever use.  It is a mid-range board with high-end overclocking capabilities.  You will be very happy with this motherboard without breaking the bank.

I completely understand your hesitation to go AMD.  I personally have a GTX 780 and I love it, destroys everything I throw at it.  That being said, at the time I made the purchase, the 290X's were still in the 6 and 7 hundreds.  Now that they have come back to reasonable prices, they offer a lot more price to performance than the 780.  You can't go wrong either way, 780 or 290X, I just wanted you to be aware that they have the same price tag, but one performs better than the other.

Unless you need the extra features, the motherboard isn't worth the extra money.

Vengeance Pro is a waste of money over cheaper ram kits.

The psu is overkill even for a 780 sli. The ax760i is already more than enough.

Unless you're purchasing soon, I suggest planning later-- 2-3 days at most before you buy. Parts and prices change frequently so any parts list you come up with now will likely be obsolete when it comes time to buy.

Hm.. are you sure that the R9 290X is worth it vs the GTX 780 ?

Look through these benchmarks for many popular games, the 290X beats out the 780 in nearly all the games tested.  One area where the 780 is better than the 290X is temperatures.  Even non-reference 290X's run hotter than 780s.  Stay far away from a reference 290X.  I think you can find Sapphire or XFX that come with quality cooled 290Xs for $480-$500.  I think there was a Saphira Vapor Cooled 290X for $440 just a few days ago, that was a freaking steal.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-780-ti-review-benchmarks,3663-5.html <-- a 780Ti review, but the 290X comes close.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_Ti_Classified/1.html <-- Again a 780Ti review, but the 290X and 780 are shown for comparison

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7457/the-radeon-r9-290x-review

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/asus_radeon_r9_290x_matrix_review,1.html

When checking benchmarks, be sure to look at the corresponding resolution that you plan to use.

I wasn't recommending the ax760i over the ax860i. There are cheaper alternatives. Look at some other 750w gold psus.
