Gpu just died :) (msi aero itx rtx 2070)

deadlou666

Just started playing cyberpunk about 2 weeks ago and it started crashing from day one where the display would turn off temporarily (all other games fine) and it's got worse and worse up to today where I was playing and then boom. Lots of artifacting for a split second and the pc goes off and wouldn't power on again until after about 3 attempts which it booted and now can't play any game without either crashing to desktop or powering off. Yay. I've concluded that the gpu is broken after testing with a cheap ass 5450 (I think) and that at least launches games. I'm also in a financial situation where it'll be at least 6 months before I can buy a new gpu. How much would you say I could sell the somewhat broken gpu for? Cos I'm now gonna have to use geforce now for the forseabke future. Just needed a rant and that question. thanks (rtx 2070 msi aero itx)

So the card doesn't overheat or anything it just straight up goes?

if the issue is coming from the temp climbing over safe temps during gaming sessions, try using MSI Afterburner or something to choke the % voltage, as a temporary band-aid, since choking voltage doesn't damage the card just forces it to run slower:

Definitely does sound like your GPU is on its last legs.  Bit surprising since the 2000 series ain't that old.

You could try to DDU and reinstall the drivers from scratch.. Its a long shot but hey, what do you have to lose right.

The last thing I tried before posting this topic was a ddu and unfortunately didn't work. Weird thing is it can run fur mark for hours and hours and not crash but things like games or occasionly YouTube vids it'll just artifact like no ones business and then shutdown. I think imma try running rocky Linux and see if that works otherwise I don't know. Thanks anyway tho.

Well yeah, that's what the 20 series did - remember the space invaders "XD" artifacts? It's as if the card was mocking you for buying it.

Never seen Space Invader artifacts before (friend's PC, he took the potato pic) : r/pcmasterrace
