What to do with old laptops/computers?

keretzK

I've recevied some PCs and laptops a bit old, or with some problem that wasn't fixed at the time, and disassembled them.

Apart from the HDD/SSD and some magnets, i have no use for the rest.

Already tried to give the scraps away to some store but none want them.
What can i do with the ram (1gb), motherboard (+10 years), laptop screens, wifi drives, laptop cases and other components left around? Should i throw it away and be done with it?

Yeah, bring it to your local recycling facility.

laptop screens, wifi drives,

Those you might be able to sell on Ebay or on a similar site, sometimes people want them to fix their own devices.

But since you said they're old, there's no guarantee that anyone will want them.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

recycling facility, or some goodwill/charity type of place.

might be worth asking around in your wider circles if anyone has a younger relative that might want some old hardware to play with.

Hard for us to give you a solid answer when you haven't told us where you live 😉 Possibilities change from area to area.

Find a recycling depot. That's probably your best bet.

Honestly, if you don't want them and they're useless, why do you think a store, that has to pay money to handle them, would want them either?

They are useless to me, but most of the components work just fine. I try to give them away but they refused them non the less.
As for where i live, i didnt think it matters but in casi it makes any difference Argentina

  • 3 weeks later...

Power supplies are always useful, especially if you do hobby electronics, cases can be used as night stands or mini coffee tables, motherboards can be used as wall decor if you have many of then and you paint them it  can be a good look.
