RAM Compatibility Question DDR5 AMD

Hello people that are more knowledgable than me,

 

I have recently (yesterday) ordered parts for my very first PC build, and today I have realized that my RAM might not be compatible with my Motherboard. PCPartPicker said that there is no compatibility issues, yet the support page for my motherboard says that the memory I have picked is not compatible.

 

For reference, I will be building with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 on an MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi motherboard.

At the very least what RAM you bought would be a good start. Even better would be a link to your PCPP list. 

 

Based on your question, my suggestion would be a set of DDR5-6000CL30 w/ EXPO.

Would help if you listed the memory kit's model number.

 

Either way, the motherboard QVL is not an exhaustive list of every kit that would work, so odds are it would be fine as long as the speed bin is sensible.

While that kit is technically compatible, 2x8GB kits are not great for DDR5 performance wise. A good 32GB (2x16GB) kit of DDR5-6000 would have only been about $30 more and been a notable increase in performance and double the capacity.

Corsair doesn’t play well with Ryzen sometimes. I would steer toward kits that have Expo as that is an AMD technology so those kits are geared to work with Ryzen. Also, get 32GB if at all possible in your budget. With modern titles 16GB is becoming minimum and in a couple years you’ll likely start running into issues.

I can vouch that the Flare X5 kits work, myself and a buddy have 7700X's with 32GB Flare X5 6000CL36 kits (Microcenter bundles).

 

I assume Trident will work just as well, G. Skill really nailed AM5.
