I see.
It does started to appear after covid era IIRC.

Do you think there's a possibility that it just need a new polarizer ?

If you know how to repair, you can change the polarizer, it looks like is the polarizer problem.

i don’t know how and you need to google yourself.

My car head unit's touchscreen (Kenwood DDX5034) have this "smudge" on it, which after taking the thing apart seems to be inbetween the layers of glass. (Pic below)

Does anyone know whether this can be fixed without buying a new screen ? Because I don't think I can find anyone selling it here, atleast not for less than a price of a new double din head unit :x

The unit & screen still works fine and all (can be tapped, very responsive, etc) , just that it's kinda hard to see at the part where there's smudges.

Please let me know if there's more detail you need, or if you need a better pic.

Looks like it either de-laminated or you use some cleaning product with alcohol that melted the screen. Not much to do about it except use as is.

Well, I may have seen several videos of people changing their polarizers in the past.

The reason why I'm asking first is because I prefer to spend some money on polarizers & doing an attempt that may possibly break the LCD after I'm fairly sure that THAT's the problem.

Hmm, I think so.
That's the general area of the scroll up/down, and folder list button is.

At covid era i had to spray alcohol on palm when i return to car. Although I'm pretty sure I always let the alcohol dry out first.

Anyway, if it's the polarizer it shouldn't be too expensive to fix (I think?)

Although idk whether all polarizers are the same or not, or if I have to use a different kind of polarizer for each the front and back :x

The damn thing stayed with me for like ... 11 years now, I'd hate to let it collect dust if it's fixable cheaply.

Heya @jaslion, @Andrewtst
The thought of it just sitting in the corner of cupboard just because of screen blemish annoyed the heck out of me, so went YOLO and tried to DIY.

No idea if it's actually a good job or not, but from my POV, it looks just fine. Especially considering it was my first time dismantling & changing polarizers.

The real thing looks a bit better, looks a bit washed out on phone camera.
