Apple: Improved account security (FIDO 2FA)? No iTunes for you!

SetOutMode

I'm a windows user, and I'm fully immersed in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, Apple Watch Ultra, iPad Pro, Airpods Pro, Airtags all over, etc). However, I need to use windows for my computers. Bought a new (to me) laptop to use at work, decided to give Ninite a whirl. One of the options was iTunes. I included it just because.

Anyway, everything is going fine, until I get to iTunes. I use YubiKey to secure every account I can. Apple included.

However, since I have taken that step, I can't log in to iTunes on Windows as two factor authentication isn't supported on windows (by iTunes).

Anyone else run into this nonsense? I get that it's just apple being apple, but it's downright absurd.

iTunes is dead on MacOS. It's now Apple Music. So it's possible they have not put the same level of support in the iTunes as they do for their Apple Music App. I have noticed iTunes is lacking to an extent. While I dont use a Yubi key I have noticed issues with logging in. It defiantly takes some time to fiddle with it.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

iTunes on Windows is all but deprecated. Apple has had an Apple Music app in development on Windows for a long time now. Still not fully released app. Anyway, you can use the Apple Music website to gain access to your Apple Music library on PC.

I was hoping to use it to back up my phone like iTunes used to do.

They also have an Apple Devices app in development. Again, all beta stuff. Best option is iCloud backup. The 200GB iCloud plan is not too expensive.
