HELP *GPU*

Just checked the switch is all the way to the right (enabled).

Also I have not overclocked the motherboard before.

If the switch is all the way to the right, then you need to flip it all the way to the left. "Enabled" means that it will force the CPU to run at 800MHz, which you don't want.

I have a GTX 970 and it really underperforms I have the latest drivers installed and re-installed the latest version of Windows 10.

The GPU is at 6% usage and CPU at 20% usage when playing Minecraft, it barely reaches 50 FPS with Lunar Client in Minecraft.

The GPU also gets around 20 fps on medium setting in ARK.

I have had it for over 9 years that could be the issue but I want to be sure before buying a new one.

I have maxed out the settings using Nvidia Control panel but still no improvement.

Anyone know how or what I can do to make it better?

Motherboard: MSI 710 Gaming m9 ack

GPU: GTX 970 Galax Blower Edition

CPU: Intel i7 6700K

SSD: ?

HHD: ?

GPU Z stuff don't know if that is of any use.

Maybe it's overheating because the thermal interface material dried up or the heatsink is clogged with dust. Have you checked the temperature?

I have not repasted it before I have tried to but the metal piece from the GPU is not coming of I have tried unscrewing it and it still doesn't come of.

While gaming my GPU temp is 50 and my CPU is around the same too.

What does gpu=-z say when gaming for temps

What alternatives to the alcohol thing can I use to remove thermal paste?

Just wipe it with a lint-free cloth. I've actually made do with toilet paper in the past (just beware of the CPU's edges or you'll have paper lint everywhere) 😛

My CPU and GPU and FPS are low.

... run firestrike benchmark and link the results here.

(free demo on steam)

cause we don't know if that performance is normal for an ancient prehistoric setup like this, we need, something,  to check that first ...

yeah, so the performance seems really quite low even for that setup...

still a link would be good to check everything (temps etc) and maybe see *why* its performing this poorly.

I have cleaned it of and it looks good!

The temp is around 20C less than before.

yeah, ok, but from that ss all i can see is gpu is running very hot... that's not good...

I changed the thermal paste of my GPU yesterday and my CPU temps are ok, I think its time to get a new GPU had it for over 9 years.

Any idea of what I can do to increase my performance?

link to benchmark... i cant and am not in the mood to just guess... as said temps seem very high, its in the ss, you can see it yourself.

spikes almost to max (thats 100c?) and then ramps up immediately again...

maybe there's more wrong with it, can't say without the link,  but as said, that alone doesn't look too good (maybe the gpu is just dying,  who knows)

Confused because I changed the thermal paste yesterday...

yeah i kno... but ss says it's very hot.

and cpu doesn't rise at all, except a little spike once, which is even weirder tbh.

Do you know what I can do to boost my performance?

Also I think this is some what important, 6 months ago I bought a new pc and took my GTX 970 out from my old pc and into my new (current) pc, I have re-installed Windows 10 while still keeping my files.

Would that affect my performance in anyway?

According to your Time Spy results, your CPU is running at 800MHz, which is definitely not normal. An i7 6700K should be running well into the 3GHz+ range at all times - really should never go below 4GHz.

Have you tried doing a factory reset for your BIOS configuration on your motherboard?
