Dell Poweredge T610 Tower Server SILENT/Quiet Mod (Case Fans and PSU Fans)

Ricku

I have a Dell Poweredge T610 and found out a way to make it super Quiet! Just like a normal PC.

Case Fans:

First, you have to enable IPMI through iDRAC, then run the commands through a linux terminal from a DIFFERENT computer connected to the same network as your Dell Poweredge.

PSU Fans:

I got Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX 60mm fans:

First, you unscrew the screws for the PSU, remember the one under the "Void Warrantee" Sticker.

Then you remove the old fan.

Then you cut the original fan connector and a Noctua fan extension connector cable.

You will solder the corresponding color to match the Noctua fan connector.

(It is a coincidence that the wires happen to be the same color, links for reference)(If somehow you have a blue wire for the Noctua connector, do NOT connect it):

Then attach the Fan back to the PSU and connect your newly created adapter. For the rubber mounts, use the original black ones and use small pliers to pull them out and re-attach them to the PSU.

All done!
