HDMI cec on RCA tv

Go to solution Solved by circeseye,

if im reading this right. your using a firetv stick, you have audio going to your sound bar. with hdmi? if so arc is working.
your trying to get your firetv to control the volume of your sound bar? your firetv "should" be able to control your tvs volume unless your sound bar has its own remote for volume control. then it wont

HDMI arc/cec is not working on my RCA rhos658sm. Audio isn't going to my sound bar, and my fire tv stick remote can't control the volume. Yes, I made sure arc/cec is enabled.

Are you using the correct ARC HDMI input on the TV? It will be labeled 'ARC' and you'll want that connected to your soundbar's 'HDMI OUT.' Yes, it seems backwards but ARC is audio return channel, so the audio 'returns' to the device through what is typically an 'input' (TV side) and 'output' (soundbar). This is also assuming your soundbar supports ARC. If both the TV and soundbar support ARC, and it is connected correctly, your FireTV remote should control the soundbar volume. Make sure the FireTV remote is programmed for your TV controls correctly. Sometimes an IR code will work for power, but not volume, so you might have to try a couple codes to make it work correctly. Make sure your remote controls TV volume on the TV speakers first; if it does that, once you get the soundbar hooked up it should control the volume of the soundbar.

Bit late as I already returned the sound bar, but all of the above were true and it didn't work for power or volume.
