Oh ok.

Also how much does the bus matter ?

I saw the 3060 has 192 bit while the 4060 has 128 bit.

According to GIGABYTE on their website says it's PCIe gen 4

then it could be fine with the rtx 4060 too. It's your choice. A 4060 would be better but a 3060 12gb does have more vram

Well DLSS 3 and frame generation are really tempting. 😁

A buddy of mine who build PCs on a regular basis told me I should get the 4060 instead of the 3060 because of 3 reasons when I asked him yesterday

1) the 4060 gets 10-15 FPS natively in gaming over the 3060 without DLSS

2) the 4060 has DLSS 3 and frame generation and the 3060 only DLSS 2.2 and no frame gen

3) lower power draw

Then go with the 4060. Just do it.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

DLSS works on all RTX cards , There seems to be some misconception floating around about this because it was released with frame generation but even the RTX2060 will support DLSS 3.5.

Guys i'm sorry i might have forgotten 3 important things although they are unrelated.

1) after i finish up physically installing the GPU inside the PC - do i have to go into BIOS to make changes or any other software changes ?  I know i to install the correct GPU drivers but apart from those do i need to do anything else ?

2) if i install the GPU myself am i voiding the GPU's warranty ?

3) this is unrelated but i couldn't found much info on it - with the current PC case i have i noticed every time i turn ON the PC or everytime i RESTART it for windows updates etc, all the fans rev up or ramp up. Is this normal, i mean should that be happening ? Kinda hoping this doesn't screw up the fans themselves.

  1. You should check to see what settings are in BIOS, including Resizable BAR, which can be used by your GC.
  2. That is normal.

As we both answered to your BIOS question, you should go into BIOS first to ensure full implementation of features. ReBAR (Resizable BAR) and there's at least one other (4G?) feature you may need to change.

And is it necesary to configure them after i install the GPU ?

Also how many features are there that i have to change in the BIOS and which ones ? 😰

rebar

Not really important, it’s just so that the cpu can access the video memory in bigger chunks rather than in intervals of 256mb. But it doesn’t really matter for performance

6 minutes ago, Mikey89 said:

‘Above 4G decoding’ is so that you can access more than 4 gigs of vram per device

6 minutes ago, Mikey89 said:

I would defo turn on above 4g decoding but you don’t need to straight away. Just enable it before you test a game

After installing the gpu that’s it. Ignore rebar since your cpu doesn’t support it anyway
