Possible GPU upgrade ?

Good model but I wouldn't get a 4060. If you really want to get one then sure, this is a good one

@filpo

Can you please look at that model in those photos, can you zoom in on the card's fans ?

Is it just me or do the fans where they are placed like right in the middle - they seem to be really bent ?

Do you think the temps overall might be higher ?

I'm reading more about that model and it says about 0db technology - 0 decibels.

Does that mean the fans won't even spin when the card is idling ?

I'm kinda worried about the temps for that card.

yes

no need to be worried since the 40 series are quite efficient and could even be used in a tight space itx case with only 1 fan and a smaller heatsink

Sorry I only noticed this now but I'm not sure about it.

The ASUS TUF RTX 3060 I was looking at I noticed the front grill where the fans are is made of metal.

If it's made of metal wouldn't that potentially cause higher temperature ?

Metal is more thermally conductive than plastic so, if anything, it would lower temps.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

Aren't they 2 separate features ?

I thought DLSS 3.0 and frame generation 3.5 were separate technologies.

LIke when in gaming don't they get enabled separately ?

Like you can have DLSS without frame generation or backwards ?

That 4060 is tempting but i'm a bit scared of the cooling.

I saw Jay'z video in it and in CP 2077 the fans weren't even spinning at 54'C - i think it was because it was drawing only 10W.

I mean i'm more curious how the GPU's idle temp would be especially if the fans don't turn on.

My 1660 super idles at 35'C like during summer when it's 40'C outside.

I mean I know they can get in the 80s but I'm so used to my 1660 super's temps. 😁

My 1660 super doesn't go beyond 65'C during hot summer days when gaming. 😁

That's why I think it would take me a bit to adjust to like way higher temps. 😅

Also now I'm torn between

ASUS TUF RTX 3060 - 12 GB

or

ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 - 8 GB for frame generation and DLSS 3

😥🤔

Do GPUs come with screws ?

I mean the screws to mount them in the case ?

I'm not entirely sure if I have those type of screws, not even sure if the PC case's box has any left.

The thing i dislike about the ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 is the fans turn off when below 50'C.

Not really sure i like the idea of high idle temps.

But the ASUS TUF is bigger and has 3 fans.

Wouldn't it have lower idle temps ?

Also i read on ASUS's website that the ASUS DUAL model's fans they stop when below 50'C on the card.

Yes but it also draws more power and is just bigger overall. IMO the 4060 is a better buy in this situation but it's your choice. Both are good for you
