Hi all, now about Christmas I got stuff for my PC to build it... Had an i5 4670k but didn't have enough for any cooler so I used the default Intel one... And when I did and occt stress tested with linpack it failed from heat after about 15 mins... Now I know you can't return chips just because it isn't good with head but I was wondering because this one failed the linpack quickly if it would be possible...?

No... I am on stock clock and stock speeds... No ocing has been done... And voltage is on auto at the moment and has always been.

they would probably just give you a new fan.

Linpack is extreme stress test and stock cooler isn't made for that kind of load. You get better results with better cooler and better case airflow. You should RMA if it would be BSOD in normal stress like gaming or rendering etc. Or even when booting.

Even with the stock HSF, a new CPU shouldn't fail a simple stress test, especially when it's only 15 minutes!

Convert a huge h.264 video collection overnight using handbrake or xilisoft if you own it. This is a real-world scenario and if it failes, you have a good reason to RMA it.
