Hi All,

I have a Cougar GEX 1050w power supply , I need to jump start it to feed my GPUs without being connected to the motherboard
I tried to short pins with a paperclip (16-15) or(16-17) but it didn't work ,just turn on for a second and then turn off

Could you help me to jump start , which pins should I short ?

Is the psu outputting power? It seems the psu will turn off the fan at light loads, so thats not a good indicator if the psu is on.

PSU is new and work well when connected directly to motherboard , but when short the pins (16-15) it open for 1 second then turn off I also connect a fan it turn on then off , I see some cases some brands may be need another wiring (specific pins)

You do this on the PC connector end not the PSU connector end, right?

Should be pins 4,5 to short start it. So orientated from the top left in your photo, they should be to the right one set of pins, so that there's 3 in the top left before them.

After the PSU turned on you have to take out the paperclip immediately.

Every PSU I've ever done this to requires the short-circuit to be maintained for the duration.

I tried but it turn on then off after a second

Someone suggested to also short pin 6 which is +5 with ground

Is this okay ?

I don't need to damage the psu

Have you tried this with all other PSU cables apart from the 24-pin ATX removed? It sounds like something is triggering some sort of protection
